FAQs

Why not use donated wheelchairs?

As every child’s build and disability are different, wheelchairs must be designed to accommodate the child’s needs. The design, features, and size of the wheelchair change depending on the needs.

Why is a wheelchair or mobility aid important?

Wheelchairs and prosthetics are tools that enable an individual with a physical disability to participate in social life outside the home and envision the opportunities to come.

Where are the wheelchairs manufactured?

Kardelen works with a local wheelchair manufacturer in Ankara that produces customized wheelchairs of the highest quality for each child.

How long does a wheelchair last for a child?

Wheelchairs can be expanded as the child grows. A wheelchair is made according to the specific needs of the child. However, when the wheelchair reaches its final extension size, a new wheelchair is made for the child.

Can children with disabilities learn new skills?

The stages of development in children with intellectual disabilities, such as speaking or walking, are significantly delayed compared to their peers. However, when appropriate individualized education plans are prepared and implemented with patience and effectiveness, any child can learn new skills, no matter how small or big.

What age range does Kardelen serve?

Kardelen serves individuals between the ages of 0-25 regardless of language, religion, race, color, or gender.

A doctor or physical therapist examines the child and provides guidance on the type of needed prosthetic. The family then submits a request to Kardelen for the prosthetic. Kardelen coordinates with their contracted companies to ensure the child will receive the proper prosthetic.

Hope for Children in Türkiye

A Flower of Hope

Kardelen is a Turkish word for 'snowdrop,' an early-blooming flower that can burst through the cold ground and snow, reminding us of the treasures hidden from sight and the potential for renewal. Kardelen symbolizes God's ability to bring the fullness of life to children with disabilities in Türkiye.
